eris - butt dangle part 2

Finally got a hold of mother to clarify what exactly she wanted changed and it was MOAR BUTT. She believes that loincloths are apparently tiny aprons so all that should be showing from the back is a bow, BARE BUTT IS REQUIRED.

So that's what she gets, and she likes it. My life is strange sometimes.

eris - I am connected!

If you're in my circles on the Google Positives, this is a repost, but this will contain the phone pictures from the gallery all in a row, so that might be easier to see.

If you did not know, I have been without a mobile device since August, I left Josh's t-mobile account and ported my number to Google Voice. I've been fine without such a thing for a while, but the last few weeks before Thanksgiving, it suddenly started getting to me. So talked to the boyperson at length about alternatives to the $300 phone that I previously had wanted, and he found me links to sales and I decided to try to get the Wildfire S for $99 from Best Buy.

I have kept my number with Google Voice, since that app is working wonderfully with Android, and I've had no complaints at all about that use, the app is brilliant and it works seamlessly with the phone so that I don't even have to think about it to make sure I'm sending messages and calling with MY number. I went with Virgin Mobile as my provider, and it's only been a few weeks but I have no complaints about them, $35/mo no contract is brilliant, and signing up was super easy and painless.

I love nearly everything about the device, itself, not so much the Sense UI, but I'll get into that in a moment. The display is brilliant, its response time is snappy as fuck, and though smaller than other phones I'd been eyeing, I like that it fits in my hand better.

The small size causes a little problem with the menu buttons at the bottom while texting/messaging. It's easy to accidentally hit the back and home buttons, but I'm getting used to it.

The camera is really great, it has a flash and it takes amazing pictures in complete darkness within about 4 feet from the object. The face detection thing to help you focus amuses the hell out of me because it even recognises kitty faces!

The HTC Sense interface atop Android is largely bullshit. It's pointless, clunky branding, and it's taking up so much space/memory that I have to play musical chairs with my apps every time there's an update to anything, sometimes I have to even delete and re-add apps after, in order to apply needed updates.

The above was expected and otherwise would have been a dealbreaker, except for the fact that I BOUGHT A TINY COMPUTER AND THIS CAN BE CHANGED! Well, eventually.

The boyperson spent a great deal of time with it last night and pretty easily got it rooted, but Cyanogen would just plain not install, so I'm going to have to wait a bit before I can rid myself of the Sense bullshit entirely.

One last note about the software side, OMG I LOVE SWYPE, of course I won't have to give that up when I move to Cyanogen, but just wanted to note my love for that keyboard. I'd played with it a little on the girlperson's fon, but hadn't spent enough time with it to LEARN it until my own device, and once I got into it, it's great. Drawing words just really appeals to how my brain works.

Now, the case, this did not come with the device, this is aftermarket, purchased from eBay. I had gotten a case like this when I thought I was going to get the Samsung Galaxy, so once I got this guy I immediately ordered one to fit him. I've had flip (or "clamshell") style devices for so long, that again, this is something that just FITS in my brain, the flip action. PLUS, I WILL DROP the phone, I already scuffed it in a few places before the case arrived, and although what I spent on it is CHEAP for this level of phone, it's still an expensive device for me and I want to protect it against my own spazzyness as much as possible.

I did have to shave down the inside hard bit of the case though, the seller billed it as for the Wildfire S, but it appears as though it had been shaved a bit before, and was possibly originally a wildfire case, they just didn't shave it enough. It took a little work but it fits perfectly now, and for an under $4/free shipping purchase, I'm still fine with that.

Conclusion, the device is solid, the build is sturdy, my only annoyances should be able to be corrected when I can replace the OS. I love the little bugger!

eris - Hair progression of the day.

A post in ama today asked to take a picture of yourself right then, as you were, and post it. I'd only been awake a short while and did so. Then I decided to go back to the Bettie Page fringe for a bit and trimmed them. The entire progression in chronological order below the cut, the one showing is one of two taken just now after it's completely dry.

eris - Seamus.

I set aside about twice as much of the Seamus!Spawn this time, because the boy requested garlic cheddar biscuits as well as bread.

So, as you may or may not recall from the last Seamus entry, the bit I used last time should have let to rise into two loaves. Girlperson and I got more loaf pans while out shopping, I pulled out about a third to make the biscuits and then made the rest into bread dough and separated it into three loaves.

Also I decided it was time for Seamus to hibernate so that he only has to be fed once a week now instead of once every 12 hours, which will make his upkeep less taxing. I figure three loaves should last a while, but I suspect I will be making more biscuits sooner than that, since they seemed to have gone over well.

Onto the pictures!

Here's Seamus in his new home.

I am so glad I put that face on him every time I see him, it makes me ridiculously happy to see a happy yayface on him. I know I'm silly.

And here's the biscuits in a bag, you can also see them in front of Seamus in the previous picture. I neglected to get a picture any sooner, so in bag is what you get.

And last are the loaves rising very nicely in the oven overnight. The one in the black tin just looks bigger because his tin is smaller, I hope he doesn't rise out of his tin.

Also, watched Not Another Teen Movie with the boyperson tonight, forgot how great a silly movie that is, and I found my fuzzy red socks. They were in the sock drawer. SHOCKING, I know.

eris - Seamus.

I am going to be using the François tag for these entries to honour his memory. François was my first solo attempt (named by anthylorrel from my ama post about it) at a sourdough pet, which I tried to make from scratch, and was mostly succeeding but my living situation was a mess and it was really hard to keep track of him, so I never got successful loaves out of him.

However, my new housemates were very interested in trying this as well, so the boyperson purchased a dried starter from a San Francisco company and the attempt began again. It's been a bit easier since I'm NOT always having to be the sole caretaker this round, but we're apparently still working out the kinks in the chain of responsibility. But he's almost ready to start living in the fridge where he'll only have to be fed once a week.

The girlperson named this one, so meet Seamus!

He is mid cycle, fed about 6 hours prior to this picture so he's all bubbly and happy right there.

Here is the first loaf produced by him:

It's tasty but a bit bland and very dense. I forgot the salt, and I also underestimated how much he was going to rise and we went ahead and baked him because he was rising OUT of his bread tin (the leftover made two little loaves not pictured because they were quickly consumed). He really should have been two loaves, so that will be the case next time with that amount.

I have today's discard proofing (fed twice now without discard) to make a couple loaves. And the boy has requested an attempt at garlic cheddar biscuits as well so that's why a second feeding to make more so I can try that too!

I am looking forward to eating the many tasty children of Seamus!

eris - PLEASE DISTURB.

If you interact with me elsewhere and/or read the stupid babble/whine entry prior, you'll know I've recently had a week of stupid, pointless, mope. I also found this in one of my nights of staring-at-stupid-things-on-the-Internet-before-sleep.

I found this terribly amusing and thought it would be appropriate for my door, especially in the sense of poking fun at my own mope, so I made one and the girlperson printed it out for me, and now this is my bedroom door:

Also the first attempt at bread from our sourdough starter, Seamus, was a moderate success, but I forgot the salt. =x I am attempting again, today, with garlic salt even, this time. There should probably be pictures of that, maybe.

eris - Middle of the night nail post.

Today I did my nails quickly before we went out to a Super Fancy cajun restaurant. I tried NEW THINGS, I had alligator tail, frog legs, and catfeesh! Alligator is ODD, I think I liked it but it was completely different to anything I've ever had before, which was really fun. Also frog is pretty great.

Anyway I used polish that is not only a bit old, but I don't think that it's really meant for full nail coverage. So it didn't quite dry. Ignore the paint on my skin in all pictures in this entry, didn't bother to clean up first <strike>that's what she said</strike>.

Left hand:

Right hand:

After dinner while sitting on couch watching silly things, I started picking at it because the not totally drying was bothering me, and I realised I would have liked it better alternating fingers instead of entirely opposite hands.

So I went and removed it properly and did it just in tips, which has dried nice and proper, and I like it much better. Even though the waitress at the restaurant complimented me on the first draft.

Left hand:

Right hand:

For anyone who's curious I did the bigger dots on the first draft with the pointy tip of a nail file dipped in the polish. the second set needed smaller dots so I used a toothpick.
